For La Porte County, December 8th will forever be changed. At the 24th annual Holiday at the POPS, Mayor Mark Krentz proclaimed December 8, 2018 as Healthcare Foundation of La Porte Day in honor of all that the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte (HFL) does to promote the health and wellbeing of the community.
“It is an honor for me to show this level of respect and appreciation for the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte,” Krentz said as he presented the award to Maria Fruth, President and CEO of HFL.

A Michigan City favorite has returned! Hundreds of people filled the street waiting to see Old Saint Nick to make his way down Franklin in the Snowflake Parade. Attendees were in for a fun-filled night to celebrate ‘the most wonderful time of the year!'

This holiday season, Meals on Wheels is collecting donations for their Light the Night campaign, their most successful fundraiser. This year they added a new partner to ensure they can provide meals and support to more seniors than ever, NIPSCO.

Festive music will fill the air as more than 900 vocalists and instrumentalists kick off the holiday season at the Michigan City Area Schools’ “One City, One Sound” concert on Thursday, December 6. The event will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Michigan City High School gymnasium. Admission is free, however all who attend are encouraged to bring a canned good/non-perishable food item for the Salvation Army. Monetary donations to the Salvation Army will also be accepted that evening.
