La Porte Hospital, La Porte Physician Network, Healthcare Foundation of La Porte’s Slicer Health Clinic Brings Accessible Healthcare to La Porte Students
La Porte Community Schools recently –opened the Slicer Health Clinic located within La Porte High School. The Slicer Clinic was made possible by La Porte Hospital and La Porte Physician Network alongside a generous grant from the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte. The projects is the fruition of a community working together to improve health of youth and families of the region, and committing to serve every student in need.
The Slicer Health Clinic, a service of La Porte Physician Network, is open for business to serve all students within the La Porte Community School Corporation, thanks to a grant from the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte, and support from the school board and La Porte Hospital administration.
September 23 turned out to be one terrific day. It started with a cool morning and continued into a bright, sunny day with a light breeze and 72 degrees. Not a bad start for the 10th Annual Bike Michiana for Hospice (BMFH) and the 33rd Annual Walk for Hospice. This year saw two exciting changes to these signature fundraisers: it was the first time the events were held on the same day, and it was the first time the bike event started and ended at CHC’s Mishawaka Campus, adjacent to Central Park.
Officials from La Porte Hospital, La Porte Physician Network, La Porte Community School Corporation, and the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte will be touring the new Slicer Health Clinic student-based health center at 4 p.m., Mon., Oct. 22 at La Porte High School, 602 F Street, La Porte. Use the main entrance.
The Slicer Health Clinic is a project of La Porte Physician Network and the La Porte Community School Corporation, made possible with a grant from the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte. It opened at the beginning of this school year and offers services to all students in the school corporation.
Area media representatives are invited to visit at this time to see the clinic, meet the providers, and discuss the project with officials from the various entities.

On Thursday, Hobart celebrated and welcomed the new Franciscan ExpressCare and Franciscan WorkingWell in their community with a blessing, an open house, and a ribbon cutting. This marks Franciscan Health’s first presence in the Hobart region, which is a huge step forward for the community. The Franciscan team have been working hard and rapidly to get the Urgent Care and Occupational Health facility up and running. They have evaluated that the opening of this facility is spot on with the market and just in time to provide for the ever changing needs of the area.
