What the Heck is Potamogeton? Why We Should Care about Aquatics!
Jan 18 06:30 PM - 08:30 PM
Shoreline Brewery - Michigan City
Join us as the enthusiastic botanist and project coordinator for Save the Dunes, Nathanael Pilla, explains why we should start paying attention to the plants in our ponds, rivers, and lakes. Learn about what pondweeds have to do with ducks, how some plants have sex underwater, and why you should use natives in your aquatic gardening. Nathanael will highlight some good native aquatic plants and some bad invasive bullies. You will never look at that plant on the end of your fishing hook the same again.
Grab a delightful brew and some delicious eats while you hear Nathanael present with us for the last time as Save the Dunes staff! Nathanael shares his excitement and passion for flora wherever he goes and will continue to do so in a different capacity, so let’s give him a thankful send off? He is a well-respected botanist both in his profession and pastime. He currently serves as field trip coordinator for the Indiana Native Plant and Wildflower Society (INPAWS) North chapter.
