La Porte Hospital Sports medicine, in conjunction with the La Porte High School Athletic Department, will be offering sports physicals for the 2018-2019 school year on Friday, May 4th from 5:00-8:00 pm at the high school. All athletes in grades 8-11 who wish to participate in athletics during the 18’-19’ school year are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.

Hoosiers are a little happier these days. Varsity girls and boys basketball are now in full swing. Decades ago, the happy feelings peaked with excitement during the LaPorte County Sectional. Every community wanted to see its team win, or to see David topple Goliath, but it was about communities meeting in one place and watching basketball together as much as anything. As the winner advanced to the Regional, everyone hoped they’d represent LaPorte County well.
Michigan City’s history-making football season unfortunately, came to an end last night when they lost to the Kokomo High School WildKats 21-14 at Kokomo.
If “the strength of the Wolves is in the pack,” as the Michigan City High School football team slogan says, then this year has been a true legacy of teamwork as the Wolves are setting an unprecedented season that many feel will go down as a Michigan City legend.
It was a night for history making Friday night as Michigan City took on their first ever Regional Football Championship game against Elkhart’s Concord Minutemen. Fans from both schools filled the stands, but Wolves fans came out in full force to cheer on their team, despite the travel required and time zone difference. .
Michigan City Area Schools will be running a free shuttle bus to transport fans to and from the sectional final football game at Ames Field on Friday, November 3. The bus will depart from the entrance of the former JC Penney at Marquette Mall every 10 minutes between 5:45-7:15pm. The return shuttle will depart from the corner of Arthur and Wabash Streets near the stadium, from the beginning of the 4th quarter until approximately 45 minutes after the game.
The Lake Central Girls and Valparaiso Girls Golf Teams tied for first in Conference play this season, with both teams having 4 athletes assigned to the All-DAC team. Check out the full All-DAC team and conference standings below!
The Chesterton Trojans boys tennis team was undefeated in conference play this season as the team's Matthew Jewison was named Duneland Athletic Conference MVP while the top Doubles combination also featured the Trojans' Blake Ellenwood and Chad Whalen.
